Accounts Receivable Automation Software

Esker

Six-module invoice-to-cash suite from a 40-year document-automation house, priced on invoice volume rather than seats.

About Esker

Most vendors in this category started life as collections tools. Esker started in 1985 as a document-automation company in Lyon, and accounts receivable is one arm of a two-sided office-of-the-CFO suite that also covers source-to-pay. That heritage shows in the shape of the product: six distinct AR modules — credit management, invoice delivery, payment processing, cash application, claims and deductions, and collections management — that a customer can buy piecemeal rather than as one monolith. Delivery is built for e-invoicing mandates across jurisdictions, which is the practical reason multinationals shortlist it over lighter US-centric tools.

The AI layer is branded Esker Synergy and does the unglamorous work: extracting data off remittances, routing documents, predicting which accounts will pay late, and forecasting cash. Integration breadth is the other selling point, with Esker citing support for more than 70 distinct ERP and home-grown back ends plus connectors to Coupa, Ariba, and Salesforce. The company-wide scale figures Esker displays on the AR page — roughly 72 million invoices and €107 billion in transactions handled annually — cover the whole platform rather than receivables alone; the AR-specific outcome it advertises is a DSO reduction of up to ten days.

Pricing is quote-only and, unusually for this category, keyed to throughput rather than seats: transaction and document volume, generally sold in annual bundles, plus whichever modules you switch on. Implementation is scoped and billed separately, and there is no free trial. One thing to weigh: Esker delisted from Euronext in 2025 following a friendly tender offer by Bridgepoint and General Atlantic, so it is now a private-equity-held business rather than a publicly reporting one.
