TaxJar
Stripe-owned US sales tax automation that raised prices in February 2026 for the first time in six years — Starter went from $19 to $39 a month.
About TaxJar
The most useful thing to know about TaxJar in 2026 is what changed. The Starter plan now lists at $39 a month and AutoFile credits at $50 on Starter and $55 on Professional; third-party reporting puts the previous Starter rate at $19 and AutoFile in the $30-$35 range before a February 2026 increase, the product's first in more than six years, with legacy month-to-month customers said to transition on 1 October 2026. TaxJar itself does not publish that history, so treat the old numbers as reported rather than confirmed — but anyone comparing TaxJar against Anrok or Numeral using a figure from a 2024-era listicle is definitely working from a stale price. What the money buys is the original e-commerce sales tax product: an API returning rates across roughly 11,000 US jurisdictions, importers for Amazon, Shopify and WooCommerce, and AutoFile, which prepares and submits state returns on schedule without a human in the loop. Starter covers 200 orders a month, three data-import integrations and two AutoFile credits a year; Professional at $99 raises that to ten integrations, four credits, 10,000 API calls a minute and a named customer success manager, with roughly 10% off annual billing. Note what is absent: no registration fee is published on any TaxJar page, so the cost of getting permits in each state has to come from sales. The awkward part is corporate. Stripe acquired TaxJar in 2021 and also sells Stripe Tax, so a buyer already on Stripe is choosing between two products with the same owner — TaxJar fits better when order volume lives on marketplaces, since Stripe Tax reads Stripe transactions first.

- $39/mo (Starter)
- Notes
- Verified 2026-08-27 against the vendor pricing page. Starter $39/mo: 200 orders/mo, up to 3 data-import integrations, 2 AutoFile credits per year, extra credits $50 each. Professional $99/mo: up to 10 integrations combining data-import and API, 4 AutoFile credits per year, extra credits $55 each, 10,000 API calls/minute, dedicated customer success manager and onboarding specialist. Roughly 10% saving on annual billing. 30-day free trial. 'Flex fees' allow a temporary plan upgrade during high-volume months without a permanent commitment. TWO CAVEATS FOUND IN VERIFICATION. (1) State registration: no registration fee is published on the pricing page, the AutoFile product page, or elsewhere on taxjar.com. A competitor-published article cites $299 per state; that figure could not be confirmed against any TaxJar page and is NOT recorded here as fact — request it in writing from sales. (2) Price history: the February 2026 increase (Starter $19 to $39, AutoFile from the $30-$35 range to $50-$55) and the 1 October 2026 transition date for legacy month-to-month customers come from third-party reporting only; TaxJar does not publish a changelog. The current prices above ARE confirmed on the vendor page. Also watch the order cap — 200 orders/mo is low for an e-commerce seller and overage behaviour is not stated.
